After finishing my higher business education (Economics and languages) I worked at
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. I longed to work abroad though and I stepped on board of my
first cruise ship in Acapulco in 1993. With Holland America Line I worked as International
hostess, on several ships and sailed practically all main routes. The highlight of my career at sea
was being on board of the ss Rotterdam Worldcruise in 1997; The last trip around the world of
a legendary ship also marks the end of my days at sea. At the moment I am a voluntary host on
board of the ss Rotterdam currently docked in the city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

After my return to The Netherlands I continued my career in the cruise business. Working for
Holland International (TUI) I was responsible for handling incoming cruise ships in both
Amsterdam and Rotterdam; excursions, tours and transfers are organized and coordinated on
the pier.

After this job I began working in business services. I worked as a Business Development
Manager in Paris and Amsterdam for a British company renting out serviced offices. Sales is
a passion for me along with making people enthusiastic for a beautiful product like cruising.
As the Sales & Account Manager I gained more commercial experience with VNU Exhibitions
Utrecht (International Convention Organisation).

Still, cruising remains my passion and I am hired by the largest specialized tour operator in
cruises Cruise Travel. I learned another aspect of the cruise trade. I worked on several different
projects most in sales and marketing; a.o. website development and implementation, brochure
writing, setting up a new cruise magazine, organize the biggest cruise fair in The Netherlands.
